Citizenship School Assembly - KS1 & KS2
Download a school assembly on citizenship. The pack includes a PowerPoint slideshow which explores what communities are, how they help us and what we can give back in return. The slides help children think about which communities they belong to and what it means to be a good member of that community. The slide show draws out common traits that we need to be members of all communities including the wider global community that we all belong to.
The pack also includes a quick assembly story about a little boy who goes through the day trying to be a really good member of each community that he belongs to. The story is a good basis to draw out traits of being a good citizen for discussion in the assembly.

A Model Citizen - Extract
Extract 1
Jake was learning about citizenship at school and was starting to realise what the word community meant! It was a place
where a group of people lived or shared together. His teacher, Mrs Morris had explained that communities help people in
lots of ways and there are lots of things people can do in return to help their communities! Jake had woken up in the
morning and had decided to help around a bit more because his home was a type of community.

"What are you going to do in return?" she asked as she stood in front of the big whiteboard which had the world community
written in big black bold letters.
"Follow the rules, look after the equipment, help each other and be kind!" Jake answered keenly.
"And do you know what Jake?" she said...
