Extract 1
Four hosts enter the stage. They carry clipboards and wear smart clothing.
Host 1
Good morning, everyone.
Host 2
Welcome to the jungle!
Host 3
Today's the day you've all been waiting for.
Host 4
It's time for Jungle's Got Talent!
Lion
What a waste of time. It's obviously me. I'm the king of the animals. I'll obviously win this competition.
Host 1
(Checking clipboard) Lion?
Host 2
I don't think so, mate.
Host 3
Yeah. You're not a jungle animal.
Host 4
Lions live in grasslands.
Lion
You mean only animals that live here can enter the competition?
Host 1
Yes, that's exactly right.
Host 2
I mean, you can't expect to be the most talented jungle animal if you don't even live here.
Lion
(grumpily) Humph. I suppose so. Bye then.
Lion stamps off the stage, muttering to himself.
Host 3
Our contestants are not just animals.
Host 4
We're also looking for the most useful plant in the jungle.
A child in a rose mask enters the stage.
Rose
Well, you don't need to bother with that. I'm the most beautiful flower in the world.
Host 3
(Annoyed) Useful. The most useful plant in the jungle.
Host 4
And you don't even live here.
Rose
Well, it was worth a try.
Rose leaves, preening herself.
Extract 2
Host 3
Goodness me. However, are we going to find the most talented animal?
Host 4
While we think about it, let's cut to a small break.
The four hosts leave. Enter 6 children. They are holding pictures of the jungle that they have created.
Child 1
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle is a monster, eating up light and spitting out plants.
Child 2
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle is filled with the sounds of life - creaks, grunts, squeaks and squawks.
Child 3
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle is a tangle of plants, knotted together like Rapunzels' hair.
Child 4
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle is a place where you cannot show your face. It is damp and warm and may keep you from harm.
Child 5
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle trees are full of life. They reach up to the skies and provide a safe haven for the animals within their branches.
Child 6
(Holding up a picture they have created) The jungle is an emerald - a precious green jewel on our planet's surface.
The children leave the stage, and the hosts re-enter.
